So the tattoo is finished, still healing but looks good, two sittings and six hours later it turned out great, picture included. So after it was finished we sat and talked about gaming and whatnot and on my drive home I was thinking to myself... do I take this shit too seriously? I mean a day that goes by without some added GS is pretty much'; digg_topic = 'Xbox';
So the tattoo is finished, still healing but looks good, two sittings and six hours later it turned out great, picture included. So after it was finished we sat and talked about gaming and whatnot and on my drive home I was thinking to myself... do I take this shit too seriously? I mean a day that goes by without some added GS is pretty much time wasted imho which is why I hate World at War. To have to spend so much time on ranking and hours of play just to really have nothing to show for it, oh wait excuse me the two prestige achievements for 0g a piece... wtf kind of tactics is that just to have people be able to say look I spent all this time for these yeah they are 0 a piece but I have them!! cause the game lacks replay value(which it does).
I get get seriously irate when I don't do as well as I know I can, that includes any game, I will try for hours on end to complete something if I feel I can do it, crazy? perhaps but it will lay in my head til I do something about it even if it means another 3 hours on one level. I don't feel like I play for fun anymore, Gamerscore has ruined gaming for me, yes I use to spend just as much time on games when there wasn't GS but now if I get a game and dislike it but know I can get score in it I will continue, even if it means frustration(see: Viking).
That was on top of the fact that I have my fucking gamertag tattooed on me, granted it is a bad ass tattoo and a great tag I mean wtf ya know? Guess I'll chalk it up to an enjoyment of video games and an addictive personality. DOn't get me wrong though, I absolutely love the tat and have no regrets, I just think maybe it proves to myself what everyone says to me, and I do take it that serious.

Blog Response: Do I really take it THAT seriously? Posted: 11 months ago I understand what you mean. I can't think of anything that isn't video game related to tattoo on myself. Therefore I never have. The only thing I considered doing was the logo for "Lengendary" difficulty setting on Halo but a friend of mine got the thing tattooed himself first. Anyway, you probably not taking gaming too seriously it's just an addictive element of game. Tracking and improving your progress in a game is satisfying. I seriously have fought the urge to play games just for gamerscore but I may have swung too far to the other extreme since I have 5000 point gamerscore and I've owned the system since launch. Having a couple of babies didn't help but I purposely stay away from game with "easy" gamerscore or games I'm not obsessed with so that my gamerscore is "pure." I just want to reflect what I really like in game and not that I was willing to rent King Kong or Avatar just so my gamerscore wouldn't look quite as pathetic. What I'm saying is I understand. Posted: 11 months ago Oddly enough this was my fifth and have three planned and yet was the only game related one, that's because I in turn absolutely take tattoos extremely serious they kinda make a lonnnng lasting impression. I'm the same, while I won't rent the easy stuff, refuse to lower myself to that, if I get something that I think is going to be fun but find out it is not halfway through or frustrates me to no end I'll still complete it if at all possible. Seeing the 60/1000 and so on does something to my head. And I'd tend to agree with you but I actually have friends that won't play games with me cause they say I am way to serious about it.... maybe they just aren't serious enough and should stop wasting my time, just a thought lol. --------------------------------- My husband is an Italian Hero... the person not the sandwich.
Posted: 10 months ago awesome tattoo.i rent games more because of price than ease of achievements. though i did rent avatar cause i kinda wanted to see how easy the achievements were. and they were stupid easy. if i happen to play a game that i find frustrating i will probably finish it. but only if i'm almost done. if a game frustrates me from the get go it will probably just sit on the shelf. i really only play games for fun. I'm not all that good and sometimes i can get worked up. but it's all for fun, and i don't mean nothing by it. so if you wanna play with so one who isn't very good and doesn't play too seriously, hit me up. it's always good to have a more serious player on the team. --------------------------------- Merchants of Cool; U R Not(red)e
Posted: 10 months ago I can't bring myself to pay $60 for something I'm going to play for a few days or even months thats why I have gamefly(and use places like swaptree to trade stuff I have no use for) but have yet to be able to get stuff just for achievements. Just finished X-Blades, rather easy achievements, just got tedious and annoying rather quickly but I knew I could fly through it so I stuck it out, wasn't horrible though, was free so what more could you want eh? Helps with things like World at War and Gears when the husband wants to play together, can just buy one(cheap!!) and rent the other, the rewards help too, paid less than $3 for Viking and think I'm about to get Gears 2 for $20. Off topic so anyway...I get totally pissed, I think it's a personal issue, I know I'm better than I play and dying/losing makes me angry with myself, I'm sure there is a therapist for such things... Serious doesn't always mean good lol, I just like to try and play as tactically as possible I mean if there is a guy on my right I'd really apperciate one of the 5 people behind me to let me know this, just tends to be too much to ask which is why I stay in Live parties with friends. And that way if I do die I can just blame it on all of them, they'll sit there and take it ![]() --------------------------------- My husband is an Italian Hero... the person not the sandwich.
Posted: 10 months ago i would probably use gamefly if i could, but it's not available in canada. at least not yet. if i'm buying a game i try to only buy the ones i know i'll play alot. i've been buying games i missed cheap. like stranglehold and unreal tournament 3. i also prefer to play with friends over the randoms idiots on live. i know seroius doesn't mean good, but often the players who are more seroious than me tend to be better than me as well. --------------------------------- Merchants of Cool; U R Not(red)e
Posted: 10 months ago I've always had nothing but good things to say about them but some have had issues with gamefly, everyone is different. I don't buy games unless I am really really into it or it's part of a series I like, if I can finish it within a rental period do I really want it anyway? Contemplated Stranglehold but never got enough interest to bother. And Unreal was great, it's sad that Gears has caused Epic to put the series that made them worth it on the back burner.. just for them to fall short when it comes to the Gears multiplayer. I tend to get into arguments so it's best for me to stay out of game chat, seriously. Probably not better, just since they are more serious they put more time and effort into certain games. --------------------------------- My husband is an Italian Hero... the person not the sandwich. |
